Rise Up
Immersed in prayerful reflection, I received a symbolic hand grenade—a catalyst for artistic expression and divine revelation. In 2019, compelled by a profound sense of purpose, I embarked on a transformative journey, guided by trust in God's inspiration. Andra Day's haunting rendition of "Rise Up" became the soundtrack to my creative process, evoking tears of empathy and urgency.
The resulting painting is a mosaic of humanity's struggles and triumphs, each image meticulously sourced from real-world events—a testament to our shared experiences. From the streets of Paris to the resistance in Hong Kong, from the fires ravaging Brazil to the legacy of Harriet Tubman, the canvas bears witness to the tapestry of our existence.
Yet, amidst the chaos and injustice, there stands a poignant symbol of hope: Jesus Christ, bearing the weight of our collective sorrow and redemption. His presence underscores a profound truth—that amidst humanity's turmoil, divine purpose and identity await rediscovery.
As I painted, I felt a profound empathy for humanity's plight—a yearning for reconciliation with our true calling. We have been entrusted with stewardship over the earth, yet too often, we falter in our responsibility, succumbing to division and discord.
But amid the darkness, there is a beacon of light—a promise of restoration and renewal. Jesus beckons us to heed his call, to rise up against injustice, and to reclaim our divine purpose. Though disruption may precede it, the path to redemption is paved with faith and resilience.
Join me in this journey of revelation and transformation. Together, let us heed the call to rise up and embrace our true identity as bearers of light and agents of change.
